Buhrke Industries, Inc.
Buhrke Industries, Inc. (founded 1949) provides precision
metal stampings primarily to the domestic and transplant
automotive industry. They specialize in higher value,
tight tolerance, complete metal stampings and assemblies.
This presentation will demonstrate the value and process
of collaborating with other quality manufacturers
around sensor technology utilization, disaster planning
and technical training. It will demonstrate the important
role effective planning, implementation and performance
metrics play in managing for success. This case will
demonstrate what one company is actually doing to
remain competitive in a fierce competitive market
place. (Presentation by Michael Chester)
Pro Mold & Die
Pro Mold & Die (founded 1973) supplies plastic
molds and die cast dies
for the medical, automotive, appliance and cell phone
industries. Pro Mold & Die has over 15 years of
experience in CAD/CAM programming and machining of
complex 3-D surfaces. This presentation will demonstrate
the value of standardizing processes, implementing
process automation solutions, and the role of technology
throughout. It will show how sensible outsourcing
can make the difference between winning and losing
in the market place. Overcoming worker resistance
to change and building the capability to effectively
and efficiently communicate with customers are highlighted
in this case. (Presentation by David Long)
Winzeler Gear
Winzeler Gear (founded 1940) provides precision injection
molded gears and gear design services largely in the
automotive industry. Winzeler Gear's capabilities
are highly automated, and they range from prototype
models, prototype tooling to large production. This
presentation will demonstrate the value of carving
out and building a "sustainable niche" in
the market place, and in understanding what it will
take in terms of "critical mass" to compete
in the future. It will highlight the impact creative
and effective branding techniques can have on building
a niche. The importance of forming and nurturing strong
partnerships and making a long-term commitment to
automation are emphasized in this case. (Presentation
by John Winzeler)
