CHARLES
R. BERNARDINI

Counsel, B-TEK Scales, LLC (a joint venture of Brechbuhler
Scales Inc. and Società Cooperativa Bilanciai)
Charles is a partner in our Legislative, Regulatory
& Public Policy and Corporate Groups. His practice
focuses on assisting clients in dealing with city,
county, state and federal government matters and on
U.S.-Italy business transactions.
His
transactional experience includes joint ventures;
cross-border supply, service, manufacturing, distribution,
agency and license agreements; mergers and acquisitions;
state and local government development and investment
incentives.
Charles
served as Managing Director of the American Chamber
of Commerce in Italy (Milan) from 1992-1994 and currently
is its Honorary Representative for Illinois.
His recent experience includes representing:

U.S. manufacturer in structuring and negotiating
its European distribution contracts, under U.S.
and EU antitrust laws

A U.S. manufacturer in structuring and negotiating
cross-licensing agreements with an Italian competitor

Italian manufacturer of auto components in planning
and structuring a manufacturing subsidiary in Michigan,
including negotiating incentives

Italian manufacturer in negotiation and structuring
of a production joint venture in Ohio that involved
tax and corporate planning, and intellectual property
protections

and sellers of Italian professional basketball franchises

prominent restaurant chain in obtaining tax increment
financing incentives from the City of Chicago and
negotiating a redevelopment agreement
