STEVE ADOLPH, international marketing expert

Steven Adolph is an international general manager, marketing and sales executive with 15 years experience in leading consumer packaged goods, food ingredient and most recently consumer durable companies to achieve business objectives. He is recognized for his ability to drive sales and profitability by building strong, confident and passionate teams and successfully lead them through periods of significant organizational and economic change. He has a proven track record of not only developing and launching brands in 30+ countries but also establishing the supply chain network to bring these products from manufacturing plant to store shelf.

Steve recently accepted a new position as the new V.P. International for the Sentry Group. In this role he will be responsible for all of Sentry's international business with a particular focus on Asia/Pacific and Europe. Sentry currently has offices in China, Japan, the U.K., and Belgium. They sell into over 60 countries worldwide.

Sentry Group is the world leader in fire-resistant and security storage. They manufacture, market and sell a wide range of safes and containers, predominantly to the consumer market. They have extensive distribution in global 100 retailers such as Wal-Mart, Costco, Home Depot, Office Max, Carrefour, Ahold, and Tesco.

Prior to Sentry, Steve spent 15 years working both domestically and internationally for the consumer products division of Monsanto which was later spun off to become Merisant, a privately held Chicago based company. During his tenure he focused primarily on Equal and NutraSweet, the #1 global sugar substitute brands.

As the V.P. General Manager of Asia/Pacific, Steve developed an expertise of the region, living both in Singapore and Sydney. He set up the marketing, sales, manufacturing and distribution structure for the 15 countries in the region which were as follows: Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, India, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China.

More recently, Steve relocated back to Chicago were he was the V.P. Global Business Development. He successfully launched Equal candies and chocolates throughout the world which represented the first global line extensions in the company’s 20 year history.

Steve has a B.A. from Duke University and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.

JULIE ROTH, Senior Marketing Executive

Julie Roth is a Senior Marketing Executive with an extensive background in marketing consumer and industrial durable goods. Originally from El Salvador but of German heritage, she is bilingual (English and Spanish) and speaks German. She believes her experiences finding similarities between different cultures have led to successes conducting business throughout the Americas, Asia and Europe.

Her career began in the field of research where, as a market research analyst, she forecasted specific industry performance by gathering and evaluating published industry statistics, including country specific Gross Domestic Product (GDP), leading industry drivers of GDP (agriculture, electronics, chemicals, automobiles, etc.), imports, exports, the competitive landscape, and even demographics, to name a few. She learned early on that such information is truly the foundation for uncovering market opportunities.

Market research became the cornerstone of building a 20+ year marketing career that includes specific functions of Global Category Management, Global Product Management, Global Brand Management, and New Business Development with companies including Knowles Electronics, Motorola, U.S. Robotics, and Cobra Electronics.

Julie is a member of the International Executives Group, a roundtable composed of cross-functional leaders with special international interests. Julie is currently in transition and continues to evaluate senior executive consumer durables and industrial marketing opportunities. In today’s economy, Julie can make an immediate impact in:

BILL COLAIANNI , international marketing expert

Bill Colaianni is a global marketing executive and general manager with 25 years experience in all major Latin American and Caribbean countries. He recently founded Arawak Consulting, a strategic marketing practice with a focus on the Americas.

Bill retired from The Coca-Cola Company in 2002. He was most recently Vice President and General Manager for Coca-Cola Caribbean, a $500 million business which he managed out of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Prior to that, he was Managing Director for Coca-Cola’s $1 billion operations in Chicago, Indiana, Northern Ohio, upstate New York, and Pennsylvania.

Before joining The Coca-Cola Company, Bill was Vice President and General Manager, Latin America for Monsanto Company’s NutraSweet division. He pioneered Monsanto’s entry into the Latin America food ingredient and consumer products markets. He created a $50 million business through the use of distributors, JV partners in Mexico and Argentina; acquisitions in Chile, Argentina, and Colombia; and entirely new entities including manufacturing facilities in Brazil and Argentina.

Bill has also held a number of manufacturing, quality, and logistics positions including head of global facilities planning for G.D. Searle (now part of Pfizer) and head of production, engineering, and distribution for Searle’s consumer division.

He is a past guest lecturer at the University of Miami on creating and building strategic alliances in Latin America. He has also been a regular speaker to the Congressional Black Caucus on industrial issues in the Caribbean and is an occasional advisor to Kellogg Graduate School of Management faculty conducting research on corporate capital allocation decisions.

He has an MBA in Marketing and General Management from Northwestern and has participated in advanced management programs at Harvard Business School. He also holds an MS in Biochemistry from The University of Chicago and a BS in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Bill speaks Spanish and Portuguese and lives with his wife and two daughters in Lake Forest, Illinois.
